Wells

The meaning of Prayer by Harry Emerson

During a dry season, not in South Texas, missionary J. G. Paton began digging a well in the middle of a remoted village. The villagers protested the deeper he dug and proclaimed the everyone knows that water comes down from the Heavens above. Paton continued to dig until water began to flow into the well. The villagers discovered that heaven could give them enough water through their own land to make it through the dry seasons, and so with us.

A few things about life an wells beyond holes in the ground.

  • WElls are labor intensive (James 2:17)

  • Wells are a god-given resource (James 1:17)

  • Wells bring forth living water (John 4)
